Jim Boring

After trying his hand at several different kinds of businesses, Jim Boring found his niche and went to work for a pawn shop in Texas in 1980. In partnership with others, he opened his first store in Louisiana in 1983, and over the next three years opened shops across Louisiana. In 1992 he went in business by himself and opened Pelican Pawn Shop in Baton Rouge. Since then he has opened other stores in Denham Springs and Gonzales and today has 4 stores. Jim is one of the founding members of the Louisiana Pawnbrokers Association and has held several offices. He served as a director for the National Pawnbrokers Association in its infancy. He and his wife, Faye, have 4 children, 2 of whom are involved in the pawn industry.
